Kathleen & Co: Magnetic of the Month | September 2025

I have a swatch reel posted to my Instagram where you can watch how I applied it. Spoiler: it applies beautifully.

Without further ado, let me introduce you to Falloween!

Application Recommendations:

  • Coats: 2-3, your preference.
  • Magnetization: Cat-eye; if you want less dispersal from the magnetic pigment, use the ring magnet.
  • Nail Art: Would be an interesting base for nail art, but is beautiful on its own!
  • Top Coats: Your normal glossy top coat (magnetize this as well).
  • Time: Dry time is quick and the magnetic pigment is speedy to move.

Kathleen & Co’s formulas do not disappoint, and the same goes for their magnetic pigments. The polish applied like a beauty and the magnetic effect was super easy to move and manipulate for all the magnetic effects I tried. I’d recommend going from 2-3 coats depending on how plump you want it on your nails, but I didn’t see a noticeable difference in color and opacity between the second and third coat.

This magnetic pigment is a larger particle shimmer, which is one that tends to disperse quite a bit on me with the cat-eye effect. You can see this in pretty much all my photos in both lighting conditions (the cat-eye effect is on my index and pinky fingers). I magnetized each layer for over a minute, including the top coat, so it’s not a problem with timing. With that said, I found the dispersal to be less noticeable for the ring magnet effect (on my middle finger and thumb). I also recommend these both over the velvet effect to see the shifts better.

Thank you all for reading, and I can’t wait to see what others do with this beautiful polish!
